(FEEDING CORN TO THE PIGEONS)
Lisbon, September 2015
As part of the 6th edition of Bairro das Artes, the Project DAR MILHO AOS POMBOS promoted Portuguese contemporary art through small and occasional artistic interventions on the public space of the 7th hill of the Portuguese capital – the area between Principe Real and Largo de Camões.
André Almeida e Sousa, Bernardo Simões Correia, José Batista Marques, Luís Silveirinha, Pedro Valdez Cardoso. Each artist chose a space/place of intervention. Using corn as a reference, the challenge consisted in placing the pieces in unexpected, unusual places – rooftops, alcoves, holes, walls, pavements, etc. This initiative valued the wandering through the city, as a way of extending the experience and sharing the creative individual act still taking into account the reception practices of any citizen/pigeon. Ultimately it was a symbolic appeal of the sense of creative otherness by means of a gift to all types of residents of the city. http://www.espacoproducoesculpa.com/dar-milho-aos-pombos.html |
